What’s UP at White Sheet

Flying high with White Sheet Radio Flying Club

2026 sees White Sheet Radio Flying Club soar into its 51st year at one of Britain’s finest slope sites. Perched high on the rolling chalk downs of Wiltshire, White Sheet Hill offers superb lift and big skies, we’re proud to have flown here for over half a century. From the balsa-built beginnings to today’s impressive scale models, tradition and progress fly side by side. Modern composite gliders share the slope with beautifully crafted vintage designs, while fast F3F racers, elegant F5J thermal soarers, PSS, DLG, and foam favourites like the Zagi and Ahi ensure there’s a place in the sky at White Sheet Radio Flying Club for everyone.

Whether you’re taking your first steps into RC flying or you’ve been on the sticks for decades, WSRFC offers good company, shared know-how, plenty of laughter and a genuinely warm welcome.

Welcome back RC Pilots, and apologies for the recent absence of this website.

It’s September

Next up –

Open Slopes – Sunday 20th September is – ON

We are pleased to confirm that Open Slopes will be ON, Sunday 20th September.

Conditions are looking favourable, with a moderate north-westerly wind of around 8–14 mph forecast. The weather is expected to remain dry, with a mixture of broken cloud and sunshine, making for what should be another enjoyable day of flying.

Unfortunately, Open Slopes Secretary Pete is unable to attend tomorrow, but members will once again be in the very capable hands of Scale Secretary Nick, who will be overseeing the event.

Please give Nick your support and cooperation throughout the day and, most importantly, come along and enjoy the flying.

We look forward to seeing you on the slope.

If you’re new to RC gliding, why not bring along your new aircraft? Open Slopes is an ideal place to learn, with plenty of experienced pilots on hand who are always happy to offer advice, guidance and encouragement.

As always, let’s make safety part of a great day’s flying. Before heading to the slope, give your model a thorough pre-flight check, confirm your transmitter is set to the correct model, and make sure all control surfaces are moving in the correct direction and with the correct throws. Then add one final “Pete Safety Cushion” — ask a fellow member to cast a fresh pair of eyes over your model before its first flight of the day. It’s a simple habit that can prevent an avoidable mishap, protect your model, and help keep everyone safe. There will always be someone happy to help.

With the checks complete, get those chargers connected, pack your lunch, and enjoy a great day’s flying!

Scale models are, as always, very welcome at Open Slopes, alongside anything else designed to soar.

Fly safely, have fun, and we hope to see as you on the slope soon.
