Competitions

Over the years White Sheet Radio Flying Club has run a wide variety of competitions, each with its own character and its own trophies proudly presented to the winners. There was a time when the calendar was full and the entry lists were healthy, with plenty of friendly rivalry and polished silverware at the end of the day.

As the seasons passed, however, interest in some of those events gradually declined. Entry numbers thinned out, enthusiasm waned, and one by one those competitions slipped quietly into the history books. That’s simply the natural ebb and flow of any long-standing club, tastes change, flying styles evolve, and not everything stands the test of time.

One discipline has endured, though only just. We would be the first to acknowledge that competitor numbers in this sector have also reduced over recent years, but it remains alive and kicking: F3F. It continues to draw committed pilots who relish the challenge, the speed and the precision that only this class can offer. Long may it continue —> because once a tradition is lost, it rarely comes back.
