Whitesheet Radio Flying Club Model Operator Rules

For nearly 40 years, members of WSRFC have enjoyed flying from Whitesheet Down and various flat field sites in the area. We aim for this tradition to continue in the future while maintaining respect for the site, other users (including members of the public), and the superb natural resource graciously provided to us by the National Trust.

The licence with The National Trust stipulates that all fliers at the site must have the approval of WSRFC before flying, and they must be able to provide proof of this, along with proof of insurance, on the day. This can be accomplished by either attending with a WSRFC member or by emailing any member of WSRFC in advance.

While this may seem burdensome, in practice, most fliers will already have their BMFA card in their wallet, and obtaining clearance via email or phone from WSRFC is straightforward.

We request that all fliers familiarise themselves with and adhere to CAA guidelines on model flying, specifically CAA Article 16 Authorisation. Additionally, it is essential to comply at all times with the requirements of safe flying, as outlined in CAA Article 16, which applies to modellers in accordance with CAP 722.

For guidance on models weighing over 20Kg, we refer you to the scheme managed by the Large Model Association on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority, accessible at: www.largemodelassociation.com

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to use the "contact us" page.

All members and visiting flyers are kindly asked to familiarise themselves with the Whitesheet Radio Flying Club Handbook before flying at Whitesheet.
